Auxilians on the blog!, Tech

Being a part of the biggest tech extravaganza, Techfest’18 was an exhilarating experience. The theme as mentioned above was #RightYourTomorrow.

Why #RightYourTomorrow?

We all know about the importance of investing today for a better tomorrow. Around the globe, we all understand the concept of depending on the fruits of our past investments, be it in the financial spectrum, or even when it comes to inventions and discoveries in the fields of science and technology.

The fest kicked off on 14th December, 2018 at IIT Bombay with VJ Clince. Super cool and techy events summed up our December, thereby ending 2018 on a great note.

We were there, we saw, we covered the 3-day fest for you all.  Read on to know how the days rolled out with cool events, sessions and fun activities! But before that, here’s the teaser video.

Lights. Camera. Action!

We kicked off Day 1 with His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama addressing the audience. Before that, we got some people to talk about him and what they were looking forward to. Here we are in conversation with a bunch of excited and curious audience, who were eagerly waiting for the session to begin.

As expected, he came, he spoke, and he conquered their heart and mind. Watch this video that sums up His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama’s session at Techfest.

Fantastic 5, a group of German artists, known for their extraordinary stage performances, were among the audience too. Here’s what they had to say about His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama’s session.

“I don’t like fun activities.” said no one ever. Right? VJ Clince, time and again engaged with fellow students in some fun and cool activities at Techfest 2018!

The 3-day gala included us interacting with professors who are specialists in their respective fields. We were in talks with Professor Chetan Solanki, a lecturer at IIT Mumbai . He is most importantly an environmentalist who also swears by #SolarEnergy.

After being mesmerized by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama’s session, it was time for Fantastic 5 to mesmerize the audience with their performance. Watch the video to catch the fusion of audiovisual stage design and modern dance performance in a captivating stage show, along with some backstage fun (because why not)!

Moving on to the most awaited event in Techfest – The International Robowar! This is the flagship event of Techfest, where two powerful robots smash each other to pieces in the largest Robowars arena in India!

The Robowar Finale was an exhilarating experience for all those who witnessed it! We spoke to few enthusiastic audiences and here’s a snippet of how excited they were to be there for the finale.

Without further ado, here’s the Robowar Finale!

Robowar summed up day 2 of Techfest! Let’s now talk about Robots or Robotics in general. What is the future of Robotics in India? How will robotics help us? Get your questions answered from Professor Sethu Vijayakumar, FRSE, Director of the Edinburgh Centre for Robotics, Edinburgh, UK. In 2016, he collaborated with NASA Johnson Space Centre on the Valkyrie humanoid robot being prepared for unmanned robotic pre-deployment missions to Mars.

We spoke about aspirations in the beginning, right? How about if your hobbies were to be turned into a career? There’s nothing like it, right? M4SONIC’s story is pretty much on those lines. Watch this video to know the message he had for aspiring musicians in the country.

Studying abroad vs studying in India? We were in conversation with 2 fellow IITians at #Techfest, both with different aspirations.

Hear Nikhil talk about his pursuit of studying abroad.

Now we move on to the #IITian who actually invited and got His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama & other renowned dignitaries to #Techfest. This is Anumay. He wants to study in India & become a potential manager who solves problems in the near future.

With this we bring the 3 day extravaganza to an end (until next time!). We hope you enjoyed watching the videos, as much as we enjoyed covering it.

That’s all folks!
