Digital Education in India – Where lies the future?

All About Education, Student Life

In 2019, we are almost in the peak phase of digital India. From digital currency to digital education, every single individual is way more comfortable in a digital interface, over an analogue one. The younger generation, especially, is influenced the most by this revolution. For the current generation, digitalization was just another change that they had to adapt to. But the generation who were born into this change, to them digitalization is a part of their natural habitat. Hence, when we speak of educating this generation, we cannot think of doing so without revamping the instruments digitally.

Major instruments for imparting digital education in India

The forerunning instruments of digital education in India are – Digital classrooms, Mobile Learning, Learning with speed of the need, Video-based learning, Online courses, and Game-based learning.

Digital Classrooms: In spite of all distance learning programs and online learning courses, education will always have a special connection with classrooms. Hence, the digitalization of classrooms is one of the primary steps in technically revamping the education system. The very first change of digital classroom is replacing paper study materials with electronic materials. Explaining using projectors and PowerPoint presentations is another appendage of the process.

These are the fundamental changes that almost every educational institute has already embraced. However, advanced changes like android application-based learning, computerized examination, and Artificial Intelligence-based learning, are a few changes that one could expect to be at large in the future.

Mobile Learning: One of the significant benefits of digitalization is that nothing needs to be time or location-specific anymore. Anything can be done anytime and anywhere. Owing to this benefit, learning as well is no more time or location-specific. With e-materials and digital platforms of learning, students can learn easily on their mobile devices even while travelling.

Learning at the speed of the need: Efficient learning is only possible when the information reaches its intended recipients precisely at the time of need. A delay will significantly reduce the overall effectiveness of that information. The introduction of 5G will superiorly boost this speed of information acquisition. In the pre-digital era, when a need for information would emerge, one would need to place an order with the concerned institution and then wait for ages.

Now with the internet at disposal, you need not oblige with time and neither with another man’s ability of information acquisition. Simply hit the net, surf your information, and get done with the process of learning instantly. Remember, you will always learn the best when you want to learn the most.

Video-based learning: The process of video-based learning is probably the biggest instrument that has helped quality education penetrate the nooks and corners of the nation. Without the means of video-based learning, many great educators were restricted by geographical conditions and could only educate in his/her immediate vicinity. Now, with the reach of video and internet, such educators can effectively reach out to each and every interested student, irrespective of their geographic positioning.

Online courses: Physical institutes and universities are no more the only embodiment of education disbursement. Online courses available over the internet are equally enriching and even respected in the professional spaces. The online education providing institutions are tied up with highly experienced and renowned educators, to ensure the quality of education through their courses. The most significant benefit of these online courses is that they can be treated as part-time courses, that can be done alongside full-time jobs or regular courses.

Game-based learning: This instrument of learning is the latest in the lot. Whilst every other instrument started to take hold of the system from the initial stages, game-based learning entered the process pretty late. However, with its high rate of attention retention and superiorly effective interaction, the impact of game-based learning with students is almost unparalleled.
